He made it clear that those who choose to align with his mission will likely face hostility from the general public. According to the report, this backlash is not random; it stems from the fact that his followers no longer operate under the same set of values as the rest of the world. The warning was stark: if he was targeted, his followers should expect the same treatment. Jesus explained that the source of this tension is a fundamental misunderstanding—the people opposing his followers simply do not recognize the authority he represents. This lack of knowledge has escalated to the point where, in the near future, some will believe they are actually doing a favor to [God](/persons/god) by harming those who claim to follow his teachings. To prepare his team for this hostility, Jesus emphasized that he is giving them this information now so they are not caught off guard when the pressure peaks. For those living through these events, the directive is clear: keep your head, remember the mission, and stay prepared for the turbulence ahead. ### The Hatred of the World If the world hates you, understand that it hated Me first. If you were of the world, it would love you as its own. Instead, the world hates you, because you are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. Remember the word that I spoke to you: ‘No servant is greater than his master.’ If they persecuted Me, they will persecute you as well; if they kept My word, they will keep yours as well. But they will treat you like this because of My name, since they do not know the One who sent Me. If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not be guilty of sin. Now, however, they have no excuse for their sin. Whoever hates Me hates My Father as well. If I had not done among them the works that no one else did, they would not be guilty of sin; but now they have seen and hated both Me and My Father. But this is to fulfill what is written in their Law: ‘They hated Me without reason.’ When the [Advocate](/persons/advocate) comes, whom I will send to you from the Father—the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father—He will testify about Me. And you also must testify, because you have been with Me from the beginning. ### Persecution Foretold “I have told you these things so that you will not fall away. They will put you out of the synagogues. In fact, a time is coming when anyone who kills you will think he is offering a service to [God](/persons/god). They will do these things because they have not known the Father or Me. But I have told you these things so that when their hour comes, you will remember that I told you about them. I did not tell you these things from the beginning, because I was with you.
