But today, there is a clear consensus that something has shifted permanently: God has stopped speaking through intermediaries and has instead revealed Himself directly through His [Son](/persons/son). This isn't just another voice in a crowded room; this is the very radiance of God’s nature, the one who set the foundation of the universe and continues to hold it all together. Think of it as a hierarchy where the Son is in a league of his own. While [angels](/persons/angels) are incredible—acting as ministers of flame and wind—they don't hold the title of 'Son.' They are servants, but the Son is the one who sits at the right hand of power. His kingdom is built on justice, and his reign is eternal, outlasting the very heavens and earth themselves. It is a profound promotion that leaves the old ways of dealing with the divine in the dust. Because of this, there is a new sense of urgency in how we live our lives. If the ancient warnings brought by angels were serious business, how much more attention should we pay to this message of salvation? It is a promise that started with the Lord, was vetted by those who walked with him, and has been proven over and over through miracles and acts of the Spirit. It is, quite simply, too big to ignore. Perhaps the most radical realization is why the Son chose to step down from that high position. He didn't come to help angels; he came to help us—the descendants of [Abraham](/persons/abraham). He shared in our flesh and blood, experiencing the same fear and temptation we do, including the shadow of death. By walking through that shadow himself, he effectively broke its power over us. This is why we can call him a brother. He wasn't afraid to get his hands dirty, suffering through everything we face so that he could represent us as a merciful and faithful advocate. He didn't just clear the path; he cleared the record, making it possible for us to stand with him in the light of true glory. The lesson here is simple but life-changing: we aren't just being managed from a distance; we are being supported by someone who has lived exactly where we live. ### The Supremacy of the [Son](/persons/son) On many past occasions and in many different ways, [God](/persons/god) spoke to our fathers through the [prophets](/persons/prophets). But in these last days He has spoken to us by His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, and through whom He made the universe. The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of His nature, upholding all things by His powerful word. After He had provided purification for sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high. So He became as far superior to the [angels](/persons/angels) as the name He has inherited is excellent beyond theirs. For to which of the angels did God ever say:“You are My Son;today I have become Your Father” ?
Or again:“I will be His Father,and He will be My Son” ? And again, when God brings His firstborn into the world, He says:“Let all God’s angels worship Him.” Now about the angels He says:“He makes His angels winds,His servants flames of fire.” But about the Son He says:“Your throne, O God, endures forever and ever,and justice is the scepter of Your kingdom. You have loved righteousnessand hated wickedness;therefore God, Your God, has anointed Youabove Your companions with the oil of joy.” And:“In the beginning, O Lord, You laid the foundations of the earth,and the heavens are the work of Your hands. They will perish, but You remain;they will all wear out like a garment. You will roll them up like a robe;like a garment they will be changed;but You remain the same,and Your years will never end.” Yet to which of the angels did God ever say:“Sit at My right handuntil I make Your enemies a footstool for Your feet” ? Are not the angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation? ### Salvation Confirmed We must pay closer attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away. For if the message spoken by angels was binding, and every transgression and disobedience received its just punishment, how shall we escape if we neglect such a great salvation?
This salvation was first announced by the Lord, was confirmed to us by those who heard Him, and was affirmed by God through signs, wonders, various miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to His will. ### [Jesus](/persons/jesus) like His Brothers For it is not to angels that He has subjected the world to come, about which we are speaking. But somewhere it is testified in these words:“What is man that You are mindful of him,or the son of man that You care for him? You made him a little lower than the angels;You crowned him with glory and honor and placed everything under his feet.”
When God subjected all things to him, He left nothing outside of his control. Yet at present we do not see everything subject to him. But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, now crowned with glory and honor because He suffered death, so that by the grace of God He might taste death for everyone. In bringing many sons to glory, it was fitting for God, for whom and through whom all things exist, to make the author of their salvation perfect through suffering. For both the One who sanctifies and those who are sanctified are of the same family. So Jesus is not ashamed to call them brothers. He says:“I will proclaim Your name to My brothers;I will sing Your praises in the assembly.” And again:“I will put My trust in Him.”
And once again:“Here am I, and the children God has given Me.” Now since the children have flesh and blood, He too shared in their humanity, so that by His death He might destroy him who holds the power of death, that is, the [devil](/persons/devil), and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death. For surely it is not the angels He helps, but the descendants of [Abraham](/persons/abraham). For this reason He had to be made like His brothers in every way, so that He might become a merciful and faithful [high priest](/persons/high%20priests) in service to God, in order to make atonement for the sins of the people. Because He Himself suffered when He was tempted, He is able to help those who are being tempted.
